Short Term Major Medical

Short Term Health Insurance is intended to be an affordable option for people who are in overall good health, and don't have certain chronic conditions, or complex medical needs.

Short Term plans might be useful if you:

• Missed the annual Open Enrollment periods for ACA plans
• Have a waiting period before you can enroll in another major medical Insurance plan
• Are in between jobs, a part-time or temporary worker, or looking for a less expensive alternative to COBRA.
• Have retired but are too young for Medicare

Affordable Care Act (ACA)

Designed in 2010 the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has 3 primary goals:

• Make affordable health insurance available to more people. The law provides consumers with subsidies ("premium tax credits") that lower costs for households with incomes between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level (FPL).
• Expand the Medicaid program to cover all adults with income below 138% of the FPL.
• Support innovative medical care delivery methods designed to lower the costs of health care generally.
